External AI + structured history

An AI fitness coach grounded in the workouts you logged.

An AI fitness coach can turn goals and workout history into a next step. With Simple Muscle, the coach is a compatible assistant you choose, such as ChatGPT or Claude, while the iPhone app stores the plan and completed training record. It can review requested history and change future templates, but it cannot watch your form or replace a qualified human professional.

Proposed change

Raise the next bench target to 65 kg for 3 × 8. Keep squat unchanged: one disrupted week is not enough evidence for a broader rewrite.

History-aware, not omniscient

The record makes the answer more specific.

A connected assistant can request structured context instead of relying on copied notes or a one-off prompt. It only knows what the record and your message actually contain.

Current workout templates and scheduled-day labels
Recent completed sessions
Completed sets, reps, load, and duration
Per-exercise performance history
Training frequency and volume summaries
Goals, availability, preferences, and constraints you provide
Access is authorized and request-based. The assistant does not continuously monitor your account or automatically receive every new workout.
Schema-faithful example · no user data

Ask for the evidence before the edit.

This synthetic example mirrors the workout fields the connector can read. It is not a real user record or a promise of identical model output.

Permission and record integrity

The assistant can propose. You keep the boundary.

Future workout templates are writable; completed history is not. That preserves the record while still letting the assistant help with what comes next.

Future plans can change

Ask for a proposed edit and its reason before saving it to a future template.

Completed history is read-only

Connected assistants can analyze completed sessions, but cannot edit or delete them.

Access is not continuous

Tools request specific data. You can disconnect the assistant to stop future access.

Provider and privacy

You supply a compatible provider account. Its plan, workspace rules, and privacy controls apply to data it receives. Simple Muscle sends requested tool data after authorization rather than uploading your full history in bulk by default.

Free core and synchronization

Local iPhone tracking works free and offline. The dashboard and MCP connection do not require the iOS subscription. Cloud backup and synchronization continue as a paid feature after the seven-day trial; without active sync, newly logged local workouts will not become current remote context.

Know when the record is not enough.

An AI fitness coach can help organize information and suggest questions or future plan changes. It cannot see technique, feel symptoms, diagnose an injury, or provide emergency judgment. Stop a painful movement and seek an appropriate qualified professional when health or injury concerns are involved.

Questions

AI fitness coach FAQ

What is an AI fitness coach?
It is an AI assistant used for ongoing training questions, review, and plan decisions. Its value depends on the context it receives and the limits you set. With Simple Muscle, that context can include requested structured workout history.
Does Simple Muscle include its own AI coach?
No. Simple Muscle is the workout tracker and connection layer. You choose a compatible external assistant such as ChatGPT or Claude for the conversation.
Can ChatGPT or Claude read my completed workouts?
After you connect and authorize Simple Muscle, a compatible assistant can request completed sessions, logged sets, and per-exercise history through the available tools.
Does the assistant automatically see all my workout data?
No. It does not continuously monitor your account or receive the full history in bulk by default. The assistant requests specific data through authorized tool calls when it needs context.
Can the AI change future workouts?
Yes. The connector can create and edit future workout templates. Ask the assistant to show the proposed change and its evidence before saving it.
Can the AI edit workouts I already completed?
No. Completed workout history is read-only to connected assistants. They can analyze that record, but they cannot rewrite or delete what happened.
Is this the same as an AI personal trainer app?
It can cover part of that intent, but it is not live personal training. Simple Muscle keeps the structured record while an external AI handles the conversation. It does not observe your sessions or provide professional supervision.
Can an AI fitness coach check my exercise form?
No. The Simple Muscle connection does not include camera analysis, live set supervision, or automatic rep counting. Use an appropriately qualified human when you need technique assessment.
Do I need a paid ChatGPT or Claude plan?
Provider plan and workspace restrictions can affect connector availability. Check your provider account before setup. The Simple Muscle web dashboard and MCP connection do not require the iOS subscription.
Does Simple Muscle work on Android or Apple Watch?
The native workout tracker is currently for iPhone. There is no Android app or standalone Apple Watch app. Supported Live Activities can expose rest-timer controls on compatible Apple devices.
Can I use the tracker and connector for free?
Core local iPhone tracking works free and offline, and the dashboard and connector do not require the iOS subscription. Continued cloud backup and synchronization after the seven-day trial is paid.
When should I use a human coach or clinician instead?
Use a qualified professional when you need direct observation, accountability, diagnosis, rehabilitation, or judgment about pain, injury, or health. AI cannot supply those capabilities.
Your coach. Your record. Your approval.
